JNU: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has approved the promotion of 246 faculty members under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for the period spanning from February 2022 to February 2026. While 219 positions were filled, more than 400 recruitment interviews were conducted.

This information was shared late at night by the JNU administration on its official social media account, 'X'. According to the university administration, this special drive was undertaken to clear the backlog that had been pending since 2006. Faculty members were periodically informed about any deficiencies found in their applications, thereby ensuring that the promotion process remained both transparent and expedited.

The administration asserts that the current leadership—led by one of the country's first female Vice-Chancellors from the OBC category—has made the university more inclusive and diverse by ensuring maximum recruitment from the OBC, SC, and ST categories. This initiative serves not only as a significant step toward resolving pending cases but also strengthens the principles of social justice and representation within higher education institutions.
