Jharkhand Doctor Recruitment 2026: The Government of Jharkhand has taken a significant step to strengthen healthcare services within the state. To address the shortage of doctors in government hospitals, the recruitment process for a total of 1,277 doctors has been initiated. This decision will not only improve treatment facilities in hospitals but also bolster the medical education system.
Recruitment Process to be Conducted via JPSC
For appointments to all these positions, the state government has issued a notification to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). The recruitment process will now be executed through the Commission. The government believes that following this recruitment drive, the availability of doctors in hospitals will increase, ensuring that patients receive timely medical treatment.
Appointments Across Various Positions
Under this recruitment drive, several key positions within the medical field will be filled. This includes 942 Medical Teachers who will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of education in medical colleges. Additionally, doctors will be appointed for both super-specialty and general hospitals. In total, 96 Super Specialists, 180 Specialists, 666 Expert Doctors, and 335 Medical Officers will be recruited. This initiative will strengthen healthcare services at every level across the state.
Preparations to Increase Seats in Medical Colleges
To promote medical education, the state government has also initiated the process of increasing the number of seats in all six of its medical colleges. Starting from the next academic session, 220 seats for Undergraduate (MBBS) programs and 211 seats for Postgraduate (PG) programs will be added. Concurrently with the increase in seats, the recruitment process for qualified faculty members has been accelerated to ensure that the quality of education remains uncompromised.
Education Quality to Improve with Appointment of Assistant Professors
To further enhance the quality of education in medical colleges, 180 Assistant Professors will be appointed. Of these, 155 positions fall under the regular category, while 25 are designated for the backlog category. These appointments will be made across a total of 24 departments, including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics. This will ensure that students receive superior guidance and training.
Special Emphasis on Super-Specialty Services
The government is placing special emphasis on strengthening super-specialty services. Under this initiative, 96 super-specialist doctors will be recruited across departments such as Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Urology, and Oncology. This will make it possible to treat severe and complex diseases within the state itself, eliminating the need for patients to travel elsewhere for care.
Increase in the Number of Expert Doctors at District Hospitals
To provide better healthcare facilities to the general public, 666 expert doctors will be appointed to district and sub-divisional hospitals. Of these, 506 positions fall under the general category, while 160 are designated for the backlog category. Notably, the highest number of vacancies are for Physicians (226) and Pediatricians (224), which will lead to improved treatment for common ailments and pediatric care.
