JSSC Jharkhand Jail Warder Recruitment 2025: This is big news for young people preparing for government jobs in Jharkhand. The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has released revised dates for online applications for 1733 posts of Jail Warder. Previously, the application process was scheduled to begin on November 7, 2025, but it has now been postponed and will begin on January 9, 2026. According to the commission, eligible and interested candidates can apply online until February 8, 2026.
Complete Schedule of Application Process and Correction Window
Candidates will have to pay the application fee, upload their photo and signature, and take a printout of the application form by February 10, 2026. A correction window will be open from February 11 to February 13, 2026, to correct any errors in the online application. However, the commission has clarified that no changes can be made to the name, date of birth, email ID, or mobile number.
Under which rules will the appointments be made?
This entire recruitment process will be conducted under the Jharkhand State Police, Jail Warder, Constable (Home Guard), and Excise Constable Joint Recruitment Rules – 2025. The selection process, physical examination, and other standards will be implemented based on these rules.
JSSC's Clear Guidelines Regarding Sports Quota
In the revised notice, the JSSC has clarified the situation regarding the sports quota. Players who have secured second or third place in competitions organized at the national level by the Indian Olympic Association or its affiliated federations will be eligible. Similarly, players who have secured first place in state-level competitions organized by the Jharkhand Olympic Association or its affiliated associations will also benefit from the sports quota. In addition, players who have set national records are also included in this category.
Significant Relaxation in Physical Test Rules
This time, the physical efficiency test for the Jail Warder recruitment has been made considerably easier compared to before. According to the cabinet decision made in March, male candidates will now have to complete a 1600-meter run in 6 minutes, whereas previously the distance was 10 kilometers. For female candidates, the run is now set at 1600 meters in 10 minutes, which was previously 6 kilometers. This change is expected to provide relief to a large number of candidates.
Total Posts and Category-wise Vacancy Details
A total of 1733 posts have been released in this recruitment, of which 1634 posts are reserved for men and 64 for women. Of the male posts, 165 are reserved for ex-servicemen, 413 for Home Guards, and the remaining 1056 for other candidates.
Educational Qualification and Age Limit
The minimum educational qualification for the Jail Warder recruitment is a 10th pass. Regarding the age limit, the minimum age for candidates is 18 years, and the maximum age is 25 years. A relaxation of 2 years in the maximum age limit will be given to men from the Extremely Backward Class, 3 years to women from the Unreserved, Extremely Backward Class, and EWS categories, and 5 years to men and women from the SC-ST categories.
Physical Standards
For male candidates from the Unreserved, EWS, and Extremely Backward Classes, the minimum height is 160 cm, and the chest measurement (expanded) must be 81 cm. For men from the SC and ST categories, the minimum height is 155 cm and the chest measurement (expanded) is 79 cm. The minimum height for women is 148 cm.
Selection Process and Salary Scale
The selection process will first involve physical measurement and physical efficiency tests. Candidates who qualify will be called for a written examination, followed by a medical examination. Selected candidates will receive a salary ranging from Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 under Level-2.
