ISRO Recruitment for 93 Scientist/Engineer Posts; Selection Based on GATE Score

The ISRO Centralized Recruitment Board has commenced the online application process for the posts of Scientist/Engineer. Recruitment will be conducted across engineering disciplines, including Electronics, Mechanical, and Computer Science.

ISRO Recruitment 2026: For engineering graduates aspiring to become Scientists and Engineers at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), a recruitment opportunity has arrived. The ISRO Centralized Recruitment Board has started accepting online applications for 93 posts of Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’. Recruitment will cover engineering disciplines such as Electronics, Mechanical, and Computer Science. Eligible candidates can apply via ISRO’s official website until August 17, 2026. Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview based on valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 scores.

Vacancies Across Disciplines

A total of 93 posts across various engineering disciplines are available in this recruitment drive. The highest number of vacancies is in Electronics (35 posts), followed by Mechanical (26 posts) and Computer Science (13 posts). Additionally, there are vacancies in Civil (10), Electrical (4), Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (2), Architecture (2), and one post for Civil at the PRL autonomous body.

Selected candidates may be posted at various ISRO centers, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Sriharikota, Mahendragiri, Hassan, and Valiamala.

What Are the Eligibility Criteria?

To apply, candidates must possess a BE or B.Tech degree in the relevant engineering discipline. Furthermore, candidates are required to hold a valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 score in the respective subject. The GATE score considered valid will be the one corresponding to the specific discipline for which the application is being submitted. Candidates registered on the National Career Service portal who meet the eligibility criteria may also apply for this recruitment.

Shortlisting for Interview Based on GATE Score

Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview based on their GATE scores. ISRO has clarified that the GATE score itself will be the basis for this, rather than just the raw marks or rank. Candidates will be selected for the interview in a 1:7 ratio. The interview will assess candidates on their technical knowledge, understanding of the subject, presentation and communication skills, and academic achievements.

Final Merit List Based on GATE Score and Interview

For the final selection, equal weightage (50% each) will be given to the GATE score and the interview performance. A minimum aggregate score of 60% is required for candidates in the unreserved category. Relaxation in eligibility criteria will apply to reserved category candidates in accordance with the rules. ISRO will verify the GATE scores provided in the applications. According to the notification, action may be taken against any candidate who provides incorrect information in their application.

Applications Accepted Until August 17

The online application process for this recruitment has commenced. Candidates must apply through the recruitment portal on ISRO’s official website, isro.gov.in. During the application process, candidates will need to provide details regarding personal information, educational qualifications, and GATE scores. Upon successful registration, candidates will receive a registration number, which must be preserved for future stages of the process. Providing a valid email ID is mandatory, as all recruitment-related communications will be sent via this channel. The deadline for submitting online applications is August 17.
