Indian Navy Recruitment: 260 Posts Available Under Short Service Commission, Applications Open Soon

Here's an opportunity to become an officer in the Indian Navy. The Indian Navy has announced recruitment for 260 posts for the SSC Officer January 2027 course. Interested candidates can apply online from January 24th.

The Indian Navy has released the official notification for the Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer January 2027 course. A total of 260 posts will be filled across various branches of the Navy through this recruitment. Interested candidates must apply online within the stipulated date.

Number of Vacancies

Under this recruitment drive, the Indian Navy will recruit officers in the Executive, Technical, and Education branches. The Executive branch has a total of 76 posts under GS(X) and Hydro Cadre, including 6 posts in the Hydro Cadre. In addition, 25 posts for Pilots, 20 posts for Naval Air Operations Officer (Observer), and 18 posts for Air Traffic Controller (ATC) will be filled. 10 posts have been allocated to the Logistics branch, while 15 posts will be filled in the Education branch. On the technical side, there are 42 posts in the Engineering Branch (General Service), 8 posts in Submarine Tech Engineering, and a total of 38 posts in the Electrical Branch (General Service and Submarine). Thus, a total of 260 posts will be filled.

Eligibility

To apply for SSC Officer posts, candidates must have a BE or BTech degree as per the specific post requirements. For some branches, a Master's degree in a relevant subject such as MSc, MCA, Physics, Electronics, IT, or other technical subjects is also acceptable. Candidates are advised to check the complete eligibility criteria for their respective branches in the official notification.

Age Limit

The age limit for candidates is determined according to the specific branch. Generally, candidates should be born between January 2, 2002, and January 1, 2008, or between July 1, 2006, and July 1, 2007. The age limit varies for different posts.

Salary

Selected candidates will be paid a salary at Level 10 as SSC Officers. The starting salary will be approximately Rs. 56,100 per month. In addition, they will receive dearness allowance, travel allowance, and other government benefits.

Selection Process

There will be no written examination in this recruitment. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic qualifications. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an SSB interview. After the SSB interview, a merit list will be prepared, and the final selection will be based on this list.
