The Army has initiated the recruitment process for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-56) course. Through this scheme, a total of 90 vacancies for the rank of Lieutenant will be filled. Who Can Apply?

Candidates aspiring to join the Technical Entry Course must fulfill the following criteria:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects from a recognized board. They must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Class 12.

Qualifying in JEE Main 2026 is mandatory. Candidates will be shortlisted for selection based on their JEE Main rank.
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 16½ and 19½ years of age.

Selection Process and Training
Candidates will first be shortlisted based on their JEE Main rank. The subsequent selection process is as follows:

SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an SSB (Services Selection Board) interview. This process spans five days and is conducted at the Army's selection centers. It comprises psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews. Candidates who successfully clear the SSB interview will undergo a detailed medical examination. Training—Candidates who are finally selected will undergo one year of Basic Military Training at the OTA (Officers Training Academy), Gaya. This will be followed by four years of technical training. Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will be commissioned into the Indian Army with the rank of Lieutenant. Additionally, they will be awarded a B.Tech degree.

Salary and Perks
Upon being commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army, officers will receive a salary in accordance with Level-10 of the Pay Matrix. During the training period, a stipend of ₹56,100 is provided. Once commissioned, the Cost-to-Company (CTC) package will range from ₹17 to ₹18 lakhs. This package includes, in addition to the basic pay, components such as Military Service Pay, Dearness Allowance, Ration Allowance, and various other benefits.
