The Department of Posts has issued the official notification for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment. Through this drive, appointments will be made for the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak across the country. Eligible candidates who have passed the 10th standard can apply online for these posts.

State-wise Vacancy Details

This time, the Department of Posts has announced numerous vacancies across various states and circles nationwide. Specific seat allocations have been determined for all states, including UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Combining the seats across all states, a total of 23,757 posts are being filled. Candidates can choose their state or circle based on their local language proficiency.

Academic Eligibility and Age Limit

Academic Eligibility: Candidates must have passed the 10th standard (Matriculation) from a recognized board. It is mandatory to have studied Mathematics and English in the 10th standard. Additionally, candidates must possess knowledge of the local language of the respective state.

Age Limit: The minimum age is set at 18 years, and the maximum age at 40 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, and PwD candidates: 10 to 15 years) will be granted age relaxation as per the rules.

Selection Process

The most notable feature of this recruitment drive is that candidates are not required to appear for any written examination or interview. Candidates will be selected based on an auto-generated merit list prepared using the marks obtained in Class 10. Candidates who make it to the merit list will be called for document verification.

Important Dates and Fees

One-Time Registration (OTR): From August 31 to September 19, 2026.

Online Application and Fee Payment: From September 2 to September 21, 2026 (until 5 PM).

Application Fee: ₹100 for male candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories. The application is completely free for female candidates across all categories, as well as for SC, ST, and PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates.
