Recruitment for over 25,000 posts
Through the India Post GDS Recruitment 2026, Gramin Dak Sevak posts will be filled in various post offices across the country. These include the roles of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak. With over 25,000 vacancies, this recruitment offers a significant opportunity for 10th-pass candidates to secure a government job.

One-Time Registration (OTR) begins on August 31
According to the details provided, the online One-Time Registration (OTR) process for this recruitment will commence on August 31, 2026. Subsequently, online applications will be accepted starting September 2, 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online by visiting the official India Post website. Candidates are advised to verify the dates mentioned in the official notification before applying.

10th-pass qualification required; Mathematics and English also mandatory
For the Gramin Dak Sevak recruitment, candidates must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board. Additionally, passing Mathematics and English subjects in the 10th standard is mandatory. Candidates must have studied the local language prescribed for the specific post up to the 10th standard. This means that a candidate cannot apply solely on the basis of having passed the 10th standard; they must also meet the educational requirements regarding Mathematics, English, and the specific local language associated with the post.

**Special Rules Regarding Local Language in These States**

Special rules concerning local language proficiency apply to candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, and Nagaland. In these states, knowledge of the respective local tribal language or dialect—in addition to English or Hindi—may be mandatory. If the relevant local language was not taught up to the 10th-grade level, the candidate's language proficiency will be verified through a certificate issued by designated authorities. Therefore, candidates from these states should carefully review the local language requirements before applying.

**What is the Application Fee?**
The application fee for GDS recruitment is set at ₹100; however, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, as well as women and transgender candidates, are exempt from paying the fee. Candidates in these categories can complete the application process without making any payment.

**What Remuneration Will BPM, ABPM, and Dak Sevak Receive?**
Selected candidates will receive remuneration in the form of TRCA (Time-Related Continuity Allowance). Candidates selected for the post of Branch Postmaster (BPM) will receive a TRCA ranging from ₹12,000 to ₹29,380. Meanwhile, those selected for the posts of Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak will receive a TRCA ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹24,470. Working hours for these posts are also fixed; candidates will be required to work for a minimum of four hours and a maximum of five hours daily.

**Documents Required at the Time of Application**
When applying online, candidates will need the following documents: 10th-grade mark sheet, identity proof, caste certificate, disability certificate (PwBD) where applicable, EWS certificate, proof of date of birth, and a medical certificate issued by a government hospital or dispensary. Where a local or tribal language certificate is required, the candidate must provide proof of the same. Candidates should ensure that the information recorded in their documents matches the details entered in the application form.

Mandatory procedures to be completed even after selection
Candidates selected for GDS recruitment must undergo a process of physical document verification. Selected candidates will be informed about this via SMS or email. Subsequently, they must appear for physical document verification within 15 days of their selection. If the document verification is successful, a provisional offer of engagement will be issued to the candidate through the system. Following this, the remaining pre-appointment formalities must be completed.

Process to be completed within 30 days
Upon receiving the provisional offer of engagement, the candidate must complete all necessary pre-appointment formalities within 30 days. This includes a three-day basic training program and arrangements for accommodation, among other things. The final appointment order will be issued to the candidate only after all required documents and the police verification report have been received; in other words, appointment is not finalized merely by appearing on the selection list—completing the prescribed procedures, including document and police verification, is mandatory.
