India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: The Department of Posts has released a new notification for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment 2026, detailing the number of vacancies to be filled across various circles. The department is set to recruit for a total of 23,757 posts. Recruitment will be conducted for the positions of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Gramin Dak Sevak. The highest number of recruitments will take place in the Maharashtra Postal Circle, with 2,297 vacancies to be filled. This is followed by Tamil Nadu (2,118 posts) and Uttar Pradesh (1,691 posts). Other vacancies include West Bengal (1,619), Madhya Pradesh (1,450), Jharkhand (1,379), Kerala (1,373), North East (1,354), Odisha (1,353), Karnataka (1,116), and Bihar (1,098).

**When will the application process begin?**
Applications can be submitted online only. The application process will commence on August 31 and continue until September 19, 2026. The fee payment window will open at 5:00 PM on September 2 and close at 5:00 PM on September 21. A correction window for applications will open on September 23 and remain active until September 24, 2026.

Regarding the application fee, candidates belonging to the General, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories are required to pay a fee of ₹100.
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, as well as women and transwomen, are exempt from paying any application fee.

**Who can apply?**
Candidates who have passed the 10th standard are eligible to apply. Mathematics and English must have been subjects in their 10th-standard curriculum. Applicants must possess proficiency in the local language of the postal circle they wish to apply to. The candidate's age must not exceed 40 years.

Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) – ₹10,000 to ₹24,470
Dak Sevak – ₹10,000 to ₹24,470
