HPPSC Constable Vacancy: Applications open for 734 male and female constable posts; who is eligible to apply?
HP Police Constable Recruitment 2026: The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is commencing the application process for Constable posts in the state police department today. A total of 734 vacancies will be filled across both male and female categories. The application process will be conducted via the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal.
Interested and eligible candidates can apply. The deadline for applications is August 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM. The Commission has clarified that offline applications will not be accepted.

What are the important application dates?

What are the eligibility criteria?
Candidates must have passed the 10th and 12th grades from a recognized board or institution. Candidates seeking the benefit of Himachal Pradesh reservation must also meet the requirement of being a bona fide Himachali.
Candidates must have passed the 10th standard.
Passing the 10+2 (Intermediate) examination is mandatory.
Educational qualifications must be completed by the prescribed cut-off date. Candidates applying under the Himachal quota must submit a Bonafide Himachali certificate.
What is the prescribed age limit?
The Commission has set different age limits for various categories. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will also receive additional relaxation.

Additional age relaxation will be granted to reserved category candidates in accordance with Himachal Pradesh Government rules.
What does the Physical Efficiency Test entail?
Before the written examination, candidates must undergo a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a Physical Standard Test (PST). These will include a race, high jump, and long jump.
For Male Candidates
Male candidates must complete the race within the stipulated time and meet the minimum standards in the jumping events.
1500-meter race: 5 minutes 30 seconds
100-meter race: 14 seconds
High jump: 1.35 meters
Long jump: 4 meters
For Female Candidates
Different physical test standards have been set for female candidates.
800-meter race: 3 minutes 45 seconds
100-meter race: 17 seconds
High jump: 1.10 meters
Long jump: 3 meters
What is the selection process?

The written examination will be of the objective type. It will carry 90 marks, and negative marking will apply to incorrect answers.
What is the salary?
Selected candidates will receive a salary in accordance with Level-3 of the Himachal Pradesh Government's pay matrix. They will also be entitled to various government allowances. Pay Scale: ₹20,000 to ₹64,000 per month

What is the application fee?
