HPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: A major opportunity has arisen for candidates aspiring to build a career in teaching within government colleges and medical institutions. The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released the Assistant Professor recruitment notification for the year 2026. Highest Number of Posts in College Cadre (Subject-wise)
A total of 373 posts in the college cadre will be filled across 22 subjects. Among these, the highest number of posts (39) is for English. Additionally, there are 34 vacancies each for Chemistry and Hindi, 25 each for Physics and Mathematics, and 23 for Physical Education.

Educational Qualifications
For Medical Specialty Posts
Candidates must possess a medical qualification recognized under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, or the National Medical Commission Act, 2019. An MD, MS, or equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant subject is also mandatory.
For most specialties, a minimum of 3 years of teaching or residency experience at a recognized medical college following the postgraduate degree is required.
For College Cadre Posts
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks. A minimum of 50% marks is required for reserved categories.
Qualifying the NET, SLET, or SET is mandatory. However, PhD holders who meet the prescribed criteria will be exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.
Age Limit
For medical specialty posts, the maximum age of the candidate should be 45 years as of January 1, 2026.
For college cadre posts, the minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 45 years.
