Additionally, they receive various allowances, such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Sea Service Allowance, Hard Area Allowance, and Uniform Maintenance Allowance. Adding these, a Captain's total in-hand salary reaches approximately ₹1.5 to ₹2 lakh per month.

The biggest question now is how much this salary will increase after the 8th Pay Commission. The fitment factor is said to be increased by 2.47 times, meaning the basic salary could increase by approximately two and a half times.
How much will the salary be?
Assuming the current basic salary of a captain is ₹87,000, the new basic salary, based on a 2.47 fitment factor, would be approximately ₹214,890, or approximately ₹2.15 lakh.
