The Supreme Court has issued a notification for the recruitment of 250 Junior Court Assistants (JCA). The online application process for these posts will begin on October 7.

The Supreme Court of India has released a notification to recruit 250 Junior Court Assistants. The online application process starts on October 7, and interested candidates can apply until 11:55 PM on October 28, 2026. This recruitment is for Group-B non-gazetted posts. The Junior Court Assistant (JCA) post falls under Level-6 of the pay matrix, with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400 per month; additional allowances will be provided as per regulations.

According to the notification issued by the Supreme Court, the 250 Junior Court Assistant vacancies are currently tentative; the number of posts may change based on administrative requirements or the needs of the Registry. Reservation benefits for these posts will be granted in accordance with Rule 4-A of the Supreme Court Officers and Servants Rules, 1961.

Who is eligible for this recruitment?

Candidates must be Indian citizens to apply. They are required to hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in India. Additionally, proficiency in computer operations and a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute on a computer are mandatory. Regarding age, candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old as of September 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be provided to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, and Ex-Serviceman candidates as per the rules. Dependents of freedom fighters will be granted an additional relaxation of up to 5 years. Furthermore, the upper age limit will not apply to departmental candidates from the Supreme Court Registry.

Application fee is up to ₹1,500

The application fee is ₹1,500 for General and OBC category candidates, while it is ₹750 for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Ex-Servicemen, and PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates. Additionally, applicable bank charges will be levied separately. Fee payment can only be made online via the UCO Bank payment gateway.

Selection to be conducted in four stages

The selection process for the post of Junior Court Assistant will be completed in four stages. It begins with an objective-type test, followed by a computer typing speed test, a descriptive written test in English, and finally, an interview. The objective test will consist of 100 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. Questions will cover English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, provisions of the Indian Constitution related to the judiciary, Supreme Court Rules 2013, Supreme Court Officers and Servants Rules 1961, and computer knowledge. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for incorrect answers. Candidates securing a minimum of 50 marks in the objective test will be shortlisted for the subsequent stages. If a large number of candidates qualify, selection for the typing and written tests will be made in an approximate ratio of 1:10.

First exam likely on November 20

According to the notification, the objective-type test for Junior Court Assistant is proposed for November 20, 2026. The answer key will be released on November 22, and candidates will have the opportunity to raise objections from November 22 to 23. Dates for the typing test, descriptive exam, and interview will be announced later.

Go to the 'Recruitment' section and fill out the online application form for the Junior Court Assistant post. Enter your name, parents' names, and date of birth in the application exactly as they appear on your Class 10 certificate.
Next, upload the required documents, including your photograph, signature, and certificates for Class 10, Class 12, and graduation.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories and those with disabilities must also submit the relevant certificates.
Finally, pay the fee, submit the form, and take a printout of it.
