On the occasion of Teachers' Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that the state government would recruit teachers for 45,000 vacant posts over the next three years. Addressing students at an event held at the Secondary Board High School in Cuttack, he urged them to focus on their studies and their future instead of wasting time on social media.

Paying tribute to former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, the Chief Minister noted that the *Guru-Shishya* (teacher-disciple) tradition is a distinctive hallmark of Indian culture.

He observed that from Lord Ram and Lord Krishna to Emperor Chandragupta Maurya and Swami Vivekananda, gurus played a pivotal role in guiding the lives of these great figures in the right direction.

The Chief Minister said, "Even in modern times, a great personality like 'Missile Man' AP.J. Abdul Kalam—despite holding the country's highest office—took pride in identifying himself primarily as a teacher."

During his interaction with school students, Majhi—who was a teacher himself before entering politics—advised them to focus on their studies and steer clear of distractions.

He told the students, "Please do not waste excessive time on social media; instead, focus on building your careers."

The Chief Minister added, "As students, your primary responsibility is to achieve academic excellence and contribute to your own growth as well as the nation's development. This is the core objective of our education system."

**Government Focuses on Free Education (KG to PG) and School Reforms**
Reiterating his government's resolve to bring about comprehensive reforms in the state's education system, Majhi stated that Odisha is the first state in the country to launch a 'KG to PG' free education scheme. He stated that, in addition to this, 2,200 world-class 'Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Primary Schools' are being constructed at a cost of ₹12,000 crore, and 45,000 nursery schools have been opened for pre-school children.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government's commitment. This includes providing mid-day meals and textbooks to students in classes 9 and 10, as well as the 'Shaheed Madho Singh Hath Kharcha Yojana' for tribal children, which aims to reduce the school dropout rate. The Chief Minister also honored some teachers on this occasion.
