UPSC Pratibha Setu: The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has recruited 451 Insurance Medical Officers through the 'Pratibha Setu' portal of the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC). This information was given in an official statement issued on Thursday.

These candidates have been selected from the disclosure list of the Combined Medical Services Examination 2022 and 2023 conducted by UPSC. This list is of those candidates who successfully cleared all the stages of the examination but could not make it to the final merit list.

These candidates had allowed their information to be shared under the 'Pratibha Setu' initiative, so that other government and private institutions could contact them for jobs.

What is 'Pratibha Setu'?

'Pratibha Setu' (Professional Resource And Talent Integration - Bridge for Hiring Aspirants) is a digital initiative launched by UPSC. Its objective is to provide opportunities to those meritorious candidates who could not make it to the final selection list despite clearing the exam.

On this portal, certified employers of the Central Government and private sector can contact those candidates who have cleared all the stages of UPSC examinations like Civil Services, Indian Forest Service, CAPF, CDS, Engineering Services, Combined Geological Examination, Indian Economic/Statistical Service, and Combined Medical Services Examination, but could not be selected finally.

Statement of UPSC Chairman

UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar said, "Every year, many talented candidates clear all the levels of the difficult UPSC examinations, but their names do not appear in the merit list. 'Pratibha Setu' is an alternative and reliable way for them to serve the country."

He further said, "This is a platform that builds a bridge between eligible candidates and the organizations looking for them. It ensures that the talent of the country gets its rightful place."

From Public Disclosure Scheme to ‘Pratibha Setu’

UPSC had earlier started releasing such lists on the website under the Public Disclosure Scheme (PDS). The scheme has been in force since 20 August 2018 and was first used in the Combined Medical Services Examination 2017.

Now the scheme has been renamed as ‘Pratibha Setu’, which is not only a change in the name, but it has now been developed as a comprehensive digital platform.

Why is this ESIC recruitment important?

This recruitment of 451 Insurance Medical Officers done by ESIC through the Pratibha Setu portal shows that now even the eligible but ultimately deprived candidates can get great opportunities. This initiative is becoming a new hope for UPSC aspirants.
