The Department of Revenue, under the Ministry of Finance, has approved the creation of a significant number of new posts within the agency. A cadre review for the ED had been pending for a considerable period and has now been given the go-ahead. Following the creation of these new posts, the agency's total workforce is set to increase from 2,000 to over 3,000 personnel. The government states that this step has been taken to expedite the resolution of cases involving rising economic crimes, money laundering, and financial investigations.

Recruitment for These Posts Will Take Place at the ED

Under the new organizational structure, the most substantial increase in posts has occurred within the investigation-related cadres. The number of posts for Additional Directors has been increased from 10 to 24. Similarly, the number of Joint Director posts has risen from 28 to 49; the count of Deputy Directors has been increased from 148 to 267; while the posts for Assistant Directors have surged from 255 to 531. Furthermore, the number of Enforcement Officer posts has been raised from 355 to 606, and Assistant Enforcement Officer posts have been increased from 425 to 803. The government has approved the addition of new posts not only within the investigation wing but also in the legal and technical departments. Additional posts have also been created within the Adjudication Wing, Systems Department, Ministerial Staff, and Security Branch. The number of posts for Senior Constables within the Security Department has also been increased. It is anticipated that these measures will significantly accelerate both the investigation of cases and the associated legal processes.
