There is an opportunity to secure a job at the country's apex court, the Supreme Court of India. The Supreme Court has invited online applications from Indian citizens to fill 250 temporary posts of Junior Court Assistant. Selected candidates will receive an initial basic salary of ₹35,400 (Level-6 of the pay matrix) along with other allowances. Candidates applying for these posts must hold a graduation degree from a recognized university in India. Additionally, knowledge of computer operations is mandatory. Candidates must possess an English typing speed of at least 35 words per minute on a computer.

**Candidates aged 18 to 30 years can apply**
As of September 1, 2026, candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC - Non-Creamy Layer), Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and Ex-servicemen categories will be granted age relaxation in accordance with Central Government rules. Dependents of freedom fighters will be granted an additional relaxation of up to five years.

**Selection process to be conducted in four stages**
The selection of candidates will take place in four stages. These include an objective-type test, a computer typing test, a descriptive written test, and an interview.

**Objective-type test:** This 100-mark test will cover General English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, provisions related to the judiciary in the Constitution of India, Supreme Court Rules (2013), Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules (1961), and computer knowledge. The duration of the test will be 90 minutes. The minimum qualifying mark is 50.

**Typing test:** This will be a 10-minute test requiring a minimum English typing speed of 35 words per minute. It carries 50 marks, and securing a minimum of 25 marks is mandatory. Descriptive Test: The English language test—comprising comprehension, précis writing, and essay writing—will be of two hours' duration. It carries a total of 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying requirement of 50 marks.

Interview: The final stage carries 25 marks. Securing a minimum of 13 marks in this stage is mandatory.

What is the application fee?
The application fee is ₹1,500 for candidates belonging to the General and Unreserved categories. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Ex-Servicemen, and PwD categories are required to pay a fee of ₹750. Additional bank charges will also apply. Payment can be made only online via the UCO Bank payment gateway. The application fee is non-refundable.

When can one apply?
The online application process will commence on October 7, 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can apply until 11:55 PM on October 20, 2026. Applications will be accepted only through the Supreme Court's official website, www.sci.gov.in. Applications sent via post will not be considered valid.
