According to the Higher Education Department's order, this five-member committee will be chaired by Special Secretary Badri Nath Singh. The committee is required to submit a comprehensive report containing its recommendations to the Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department within 15 days. The report will determine which degrees and academic qualifications can be considered equivalent to the prescribed qualifications for Assistant Professor recruitment.

**Committee comprises officials and educationists**
The committee includes both administrative officials and representatives from the education sector. An official nominated by the Director of Higher Education has been appointed as the Member Secretary. Additionally, Shakeel Ahmed Siddiqui (Joint Secretary, Higher Education Department), an official nominated by the Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, and an official nominated by the Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University will serve as committee members.

**Qualification criteria to be clarified before recruitment advertisement**
The decision to determine equivalent qualifications has been taken in accordance with earlier directives from the Personnel Department. Guidelines issued in 2021 stipulated that wherever recruitment rules provide for equivalent qualifications, the status of such qualifications must be clarified before the selection process commences. Consequently, the Education Service Selection Commission had requested the government to define these equivalent qualifications prior to issuing the recruitment advertisement. The path to filling the 2,107 posts is expected to be cleared once the committee's report is received, after which the Commission can initiate the application process.
