Coal India Limited (CIL) has announced recruitment for various Management Trainee positions and has invited applications for the same. Eligible and interested candidates will be able to apply through Coal India Limited's official website, coalindia.in. The online registration process for this recruitment drive will commence on May 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM and will continue until 6:00 PM on June 11, 2026. A total of 660 vacancies will be filled under this recruitment campaign. The company has stated that the date for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be announced at a later stage.

According to the notification, vacancies have been declared across various disciplines within Coal India, including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Electronics & Telecommunications, Geology, Industrial Engineering, Official Language (Hindi), and Company Secretary. Out of the total 660 positions, the highest number of vacancies has been notified for Electrical Engineering (221 posts). This is followed by Civil Engineering, with 178 posts, and Mechanical Engineering, with 145 posts.

What is the Application Fee?
The application fee for General, OBC, and EWS candidates has been fixed at ₹1,180 (inclusive of GST), while candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories—as well as employees of Coal India and its subsidiaries—are exempted from paying the fee.

What are the Eligibility Criteria?
Educational Qualification: Candidates applying for engineering disciplines must possess a full-time degree in the relevant branch with a minimum aggregate score of 60 percent. However, a relaxation of 5 percent in marks is provided for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Furthermore, final-year students whose results are expected to be declared by August 31, 2026, are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit: For candidates belonging to the General and Minority categories, the upper age limit is 30 years as of April 30, 2026. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted age relaxation in accordance with government regulations.

Each paper will comprise 100 multiple-choice questions, and there will be no negative marking in the examination.

What is the salary?
Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary of ₹60,000 during the training period, falling under the E-1 pay scale ranging from ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000. Upon the completion of the one-year training period, candidates will be permanently appointed as Officers in their respective trades.
