The Central Selection Board (Constable Recruitment) has given a big relief to the candidates appearing in the physical test in the constable recruitment process. The board has clarified in a recent notification that candidates of BC (Backward Classes) and EBC (Extremely Backward Classes) categories as well as EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) candidates will not be disqualified from participating in the physical test due to the dates mentioned on their Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) or EWS certificates.

The board has said that it has sought guidance from the General Administration Department regarding the cut-off date and related guidelines for these certificates. The final decision will be taken based on the instructions of the department. This announcement has brought great relief to thousands of candidates whose participation was uncertain due to the issue of dates of certificates.

Candidates ended the protest After this notification, the candidates protesting at the Gardnibagh Dharna Sthal have ended their protest. They appreciated this decision of the board, calling it an important step to safeguard their future and termed it a commendable step in their favour. Recruitment Process Overview

The recruitment process for 21,391 constable posts has been tumultuous:

The preliminary exam was cancelled due to paper leak.

Re-exams were conducted, in which 1,07,079 candidates successfully cleared the written exam.

The physical tests are scheduled to begin from December 9, 2024, and will continue till March 13, 2025.

Confusion over certificate validity

Initially, the board had specified that only NCL and EWS certificates of the 2022-2023 calendar year would be considered valid, as the recruitment advertisement was released during the same period. However, the cut-off date of the certificates was not clearly stated in the advertisement itself.

Experts suggest that if the General Administration Department issues guidelines to exclude such candidates, they may not be legally valid. The results of the written exam were declared category wise, and candidates from NCL and EWS categories had already qualified for the physical test.

This decision of the board is seen as a step towards ensuring fairness and transparency in the recruitment process.
