There is great news for young people preparing for government jobs in the technical sector in Bihar. The Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) has released a recruitment notification for a total of 3407 posts of Junior Engineer, Pump Operator, and Work Inspector (Mechanical). The commission has also started the application process, allowing eligible candidates to apply online. This recruitment is considered a golden opportunity for diploma and ITI pass candidates, as a large number of positions have been announced, and the selection process has also been clearly defined.

How many total posts are there?
This recruitment released by BTSC includes a total of 3407 posts. Of these, 2809 posts are for Junior Engineers. 2653 posts are for Junior Engineer Civil, 70 for Mechanical, and 86 for Electrical. In addition, there are 191 posts for Pump Operator and 493 posts for Work Inspector (Mechanical).

What are the eligibility criteria?
For the Junior Engineer post, a diploma from a recognized institution in the relevant branch is mandatory. B.Tech degree holders will not be eligible for this recruitment. For Pump Operator and Work Inspector, a 10th pass certificate along with an ITI certificate is required. For the Pump Operator, Machinist, or Fitter trade is valid, and for Work Inspector, Machinist, Fitter, Wireman, or Electrician trade is valid.

What is the application process?
The application process started on December 12, 2025, and interested candidates can apply online until January 12, 2026, by visiting the commission's official website btsc.bihar.gov.in. Only candidates who have obtained a diploma or certificate through regular mode will be eligible to apply; distance learning mode is not acceptable.

Age Limit
The minimum age for these posts is 18 years, and the maximum age is 37 years. The maximum age is 40 years for unreserved female candidates and candidates from Backward and Extremely Backward Classes. Candidates from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are allowed to apply up to the age of 42 years. OBC candidates will get a three-year age relaxation, and SC/ST candidates will get a five-year age relaxation. 

Complete Details of the Selection Process
The selection process for the Junior Engineer position will be based on a total of 100 marks. This includes a written examination of 75 marks and 25 marks for experience in contract-based work. The written examination will consist of 100 questions, based on the syllabus of the three-year engineering diploma prescribed by AICTE.
