BPSSC Vacancy 2025: Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission has invited applications for 25 posts of Assistant Superintendent (Ex-Serviceman - JCO/NCO) in the Home Department (Prison). Online applications can be made from 30 August 2025 to 30 September 2025 on the commission's website bpssc.bihar.gov.in.
A total of 25 posts are included in this recruitment. Out of these, 9 posts are reserved for the unreserved category. 6 posts are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), 1 post for Scheduled Tribe (ST), and 3 posts for Extremely Backward Class (EBC). At the same time, 2 posts have been reserved for Backward Class (BC), 2 posts for Backward Class Female (BC Female), and 2 posts for Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
What are the conditions of application?
Only Indian citizen ex-servicemen (Ex-Servicemen) who have retired from the post of Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) or Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the Indian Army can apply for these posts. Both men and women are eligible to apply.
Ex-servicemen means those persons who have served in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force at any rank. But it will not include those who served in the Defense Security Corps, GREF, Lok Sahayak, or Paramilitary Forces. Only those who have received a pension or have been released from service on medical grounds / other reasons will be considered eligible. Apart from this, serving JCO / NCO employees who are going to retire before the last date of application will also be able to apply.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed a graduation or equivalent examination recognized by the State Government. However, those ex-servicemen who are only matriculation (10th pass) and have served in the army continuously for at least 15 years will also be considered eligible for this post.
The maximum age for this post has been fixed at 50 years. The age will be calculated on the basis of 1 August 2025. The online application fee for candidates of all categories has been fixed at Rs 100.
How will the selection be done?
There will be two papers in this exam. The first paper will be of General Hindi (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours), for which 30% marks are required to pass, but its marks will not be added to the merit. The second paper will be of General Studies (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours), which will include Science, History, Geography, Civics, Mathematics, and Mental Ability.
0.2 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. There will be two copies of the answer sheet; one will be kept safe with the commission. On the basis of the main examination, 6 times the number of candidates than the vacancies will be called for document verification. In this, reservation and category-wise selection will be taken care of. This number can be reduced if sufficient candidates are not found.
