BPSC TRE 4.0: There is big news for young aspirants dreaming of becoming teachers in Bihar. After a long wait, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the notification for the fourth phase of teacher recruitment, known as TRE 4.0. Through this recruitment drive, 32,388 teachers will be appointed to government schools across the state. The online application process begins on September 1, and candidates can apply until September 30. Candidates should note that, this time, selection for the teaching posts will involve two examinations: a Preliminary exam (Prelims) and a Main exam (Mains).

**Recruitment for Over 32,000 Posts**
According to BPSC advertisement number 14/2026, the highest number of vacancies—16,101—is for teachers of Classes 11 and 12. Additionally, 3,877 posts are designated for Classes 9 and 10, 8,563 for Classes 6 to 8, and 3,847 for Classes 1 to 5. The window for submitting the application fee is open from September 1 to September 29. Full details regarding the recruitment are available on the Commission's website.

**Introduction of Both Prelims and Mains**
A key feature of BPSC TRE 4.0 is that, for the first time in this recruitment drive, the process will include both a Preliminary exam (PT) and a Main exam (Mains). In the previous three phases of TRE, teacher selection was based on a single examination. Now, however, candidates must first clear the Preliminary exam. Separate applications for the Main exam will be invited from candidates who successfully qualify in the PT.

**Negative Marking in Both Exams**
This time, marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. A negative marking scheme of one-third of a mark per wrong answer will apply to both the PT and the Main exam. Both exams will be objective-type tests featuring multiple-choice questions. Each exam will consist of 150 questions, with each question carrying one mark. The duration of the exam will be two hours. An option ‘E’ will also be provided to candidates, allowing them to select this option instead of leaving a question blank if they do not wish to answer it.

No interview after the Mains exam
The Mains exam will be crucial for selection in TRE 4.0. It will carry 150 marks and consist of multiple-choice questions. Notably, there will be no interview following the Mains exam; in other words, final selection will be based on performance in the examination.
