The application process for the 72nd Combined Preliminary Competitive Examination 2026, conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), has now reached its final stage. Through this recruitment drive, a total of 1,189 appointments will be made across various departments of the Government of Bihar.

Total Number of Posts Increased to 1,189

Under this recruitment drive, a total of 1,189 vacant posts will be filled. In a revised notification issued by the Commission, the number of posts for Lower Registrar/Joint Lower Registrar under the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department has been increased from 3 to 6. Specific posts have been reserved for various categories, including General, EWS (Economically Weaker Sections), Backward Classes, and Women.

Who Can Apply?

To apply for the BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Examination 2026, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Candidates from any stream—Arts, Science, or Commerce—are eligible to apply. For certain specialized posts, a degree in the relevant subject is required; therefore, candidates are strongly advised to read the official notification carefully before applying.

What is the Age Limit?

For the BPSC recruitment, the minimum age limit has been set between 20 and 22 years, depending on the specific post. The maximum age limit for male candidates belonging to the General category is set at 37 years. Meanwhile, female candidates, as well as candidates belonging to Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes, are eligible for an age relaxation up to a maximum of 40 years. For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories, the maximum age limit has been set at 42 years.
