Bihar STET 2026: There is significant news for aspiring teachers in Bihar. The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the detailed notification for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026. Candidates who pass this exam will be eligible to participate in the future BPSC teacher recruitment examination (TRE 4). Notably, the certificate obtained upon passing STET will remain valid for a lifetime. The application process will be entirely online, and candidates must submit their forms within the stipulated timeframe.
When and where to apply?
Online applications for STET 2026 can be submitted from August 17, 2026, to August 31, 2026. The examination fee must also be deposited during this period. Applications must be submitted via the official website: http://stateregistration.cbtexam.in.
No negative marking in the exam
There will be no deduction of marks for incorrect answers in this exam. If the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, a normalization process will be adopted to ensure parity in marks.
Which subjects will be covered?
STET will be conducted at two levels.
Paper-1 (Classes 9-10) includes subjects such as Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Bangla, Maithili, Persian, Bhojpuri, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, in addition to Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Dance, and Special School Teacher.
Paper-2 (Classes 11-12) will cover subjects such as Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Bangla, Maithili, Magahi, Arabic, Persian, Bhojpuri, Pali, Prakrit, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Philosophy, Computer Science, Agriculture, and Music.
What is the age limit?
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age as of August 1, 2026. General category (Male): 37 years
General category (Female): 40 years
BC/EBC: 40 years
SC/ST: 42 years
Required qualifications for Paper-1
Graduation or Post-Graduation in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, along with a B.Ed. degree is required. Under NCTE norms, certain candidates with 45% marks will also be eligible. Candidates holding a 4-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. degree may also apply.
Qualifications for Paper-2
Post-Graduation in the relevant subject with 50% marks and a B.Ed. degree are mandatory. In certain cases, candidates with 45% marks, a 4-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed., or a 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. degree will also be eligible.
Relief for Computer Science candidates
A B.Ed. degree is not mandatory for the Computer Science subject. Qualifications such as BE/B.Tech (CS/IT), MCA, M.Sc. (Computer Science), or DOEACC 'A'/'B' Level will be accepted.
Subject group conditions
For Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, specific subject combinations at the graduation level are required. Similarly, for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Commerce, and Economics in Paper-2, specific post-graduation subject groups have been prescribed.

A total of 150 objective-type questions will be asked in the STET.

Syllabus Level
The syllabus for Paper-1 will be at the graduation level, whereas the syllabus for Paper-2 will be based on the post-graduation level of state universities.

EBC: 63.75 marks
SC/ST: 60 marks
PwD (Persons with Disabilities): 60 marks

Application Process
First, registration must be done using a mobile number and email ID. Subsequently, personal and academic details must be filled in, and the fee must be paid online.
How to upload a photo and signature?
A recent color photograph with a white or light-colored background must be uploaded. Signatures should be made using black ink on white paper.
Which documents are required?
All necessary documents must be uploaded, including certificates for Class 10, Class 12, Graduation, Post-Graduation (if applicable), B.Ed., Caste Certificate, Domicile Certificate, EWS, NCL, and PwD Certificate.
