Bihar Government Jobs: There will be a bumper recruitment drive for librarian positions in Bihar's higher secondary schools. The recruitment notification is expected to be released soon. According to reports, the Education Department has received vacancies for librarian positions from all districts. The Education Department is now clearing the roster for the positions received from the districts. Once the roster is cleared, a requisition will be sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission, which will then issue a notification inviting applications.

According to reports, there are 4,000 librarian vacancies in Bihar's higher secondary schools. Appointments to these positions will be made on the same lines as school assistants. To this end, the state government recently approved the Bihar School Librarian (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action and Service Conditions) Rules, 2025.

Educational Qualifications for the Librarian Position
According to reports, the Bihar Education Department recently wrote to the Bihar School Examination Board, requesting them to conduct a librarian eligibility test. The requirement is a graduate degree in Library Science from a recognized university with 45% marks. SC, ST, OBC, women, disabled, and economically weaker candidates will receive a 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks.

Age Limit for Librarian Position

Passing the Librarian Eligibility Examination is mandatory. The minimum age limit must be 21 years as of August 1st of the year of appointment. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 10 years in the first edition of this regulation. A candidate may appear for the examination a maximum of five times.
