Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced a significant recruitment drive for school teachers ahead of the new year. The university has released the 2025 recruitment notification for Principal, PGT, TGT, and PRT positions. A total of 55 positions will be filled under this recruitment drive, and interested candidates can apply online until January 5, 2026. Hard copies of applications must be submitted by January 10, 2026.
This recruitment drive includes three Principal positions, nine PGT positions, 36 TGT positions, and seven PRT positions. The largest number of positions is for TGTs, making this a great opportunity for candidates preparing to become teachers at the graduate level.
How Much Education
Regarding the application eligibility, for the position of Principal, a candidate must have at least 50% marks in a Master's degree, a B.Ed. degree, and experience as a Principal, Vice-Principal, or PGT in a government school. To become a PGT, a Master's degree in a relevant subject or an integrated MSc and B.Ed. from RCE is required.
For TGT, a graduation in a relevant subject with 50% marks, a B.Ed., and CTET pass are required. For the position of Primary Teacher (PRT), a candidate must have 50% marks in 12th grade, a D.El.Ed., B.El.Ed., or a Diploma in Special Education, and a CTET pass.
Age Limit
Age limits vary by position. The maximum age for the Principal position is 55 years, 40 years for PGT, 35 years for TGT, and 30 years for PRT. Age relaxation will be provided to SC, ST, OBC, disabled, and ex-servicemen candidates as per government regulations.
How will the selection be conducted?
BHU has also established a phased selection process. After receiving applications, candidates' qualifications and documents will be verified. If necessary, a written examination may be conducted, information about which will be provided by the university later. After the written examination, candidates will be required to give a presentation and then undergo an interview.
Salary:
The salary for the Principal position is ₹78,800 (Level 12), ₹47,600 (Level 8) for PGT, ₹44,900 (Level 7) for TGT, and ₹35,400 (Level 6) for PRT.
