BHEL Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli, has initiated the application process for the 2026-27 apprentice recruitment drive. The company is recruiting for a total of 530 positions across Graduate Apprentice, Technician Apprentice, and Trade Apprentice categories. The 90 Graduate Apprentice positions comprise: Mechanical Engineering (50), Civil (8), Computer Science (3), Electronics & Communication (3), Electrical & Electronics (3), Accountant (13), and Assistant-HR (10).

The 60 Technician Apprentice positions include: Mechanical Engineering (40), Computer Engineering (6), Civil (6), Electronics & Communication (3), and Electrical & Electronics (5).

The 380 Trade Apprentice positions include: Fitter (125), Welder (115), Electrician (30), Turner (20), Machinist (20), Instrument Mechanic (7), Motor Mechanic (12), Mechanic R&AC (6), and COPA (45).

Who can apply?
A full-time degree in the relevant discipline is required for Graduate Apprentice positions. The prescribed qualification is a B.Com degree for Accountant roles and a B.A. degree for Assistant-HR roles. A minimum of 60% marks is required for General, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, while 50% marks are required for SC/ST candidates.

For the Technician Apprentice role, candidates must have passed High School and hold a full-time diploma in the relevant discipline. Here too, the requirement is 60% marks for General, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, and 50% for SC/ST candidates.

For the Trade Apprentice role, candidates must have passed High School and completed a full-time ITI course in the relevant trade from an institute recognized by NCVT or SCVT. NCVT recognition is mandatory for the Welder trade.

Candidates must have completed their relevant degree, diploma, or ITI qualification in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026. Distance learning, part-time, correspondence, and sandwich courses will not be accepted.

What is the age limit for applicants?
As of August 1, 2026, candidates must be between 18 and 27 years of age. Age relaxation is provided: 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates, and 10 years for candidates with a disability of at least 40%.

Candidates who have already completed or are currently undergoing an apprenticeship at any other organization are ineligible to apply. Candidates with one year or more of work experience are also ineligible.

How will the selection take place?
Candidates will be selected based on a merit list prepared from the marks obtained in their respective qualifying examinations (i.e., the marks secured in the degree, diploma, or ITI course).

In the event of a tie in marks, the older candidate will be given preference. Selected candidates must also meet the physical fitness standards prescribed under apprenticeship rules.
