BARC Scientific Officer Recruitment 2026: The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has announced recruitment for Scientific Officer positions. This recruitment offers not only a prestigious government job but also an attractive salary, high-level training, and an opportunity to contribute to nation-building.

BARC has released the official notification for the Scientific Officer recruitment for the year 2026. These appointments will be made under the OCES-2026 and DGFS-2026 schemes.

Through this recruitment process, eligible engineering graduates and science postgraduates will be allowed to work in various units of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). The online application process has already started on December 22, 2025, and interested candidates can apply until January 21, 2026.

Educational Qualification and Age Limit
For the BARC Scientific Officer recruitment 2026, candidates must possess a BE, B.Tech, B.Sc. (Engineering), MSc, or Integrated MSc degree from a recognized university or institution. A minimum of 60 percent marks is mandatory.

Regarding the age limit, the maximum age for general category candidates is 26 years. This limit is 29 years for OBC candidates and 31 years for SC/ST candidates. The age will be calculated as of August 1, 2026.

Salary and Stipend during Training
The biggest highlight of this recruitment is its attractive salary package. During the training period, candidates will receive a stipend of approximately ₹74,000 per month. After successful completion of training and appointment as a Scientific Officer, the total monthly salary under the Level-10 Pay Matrix can reach approximately ₹1,35,000, including dearness allowance and other government allowances. Selection Process
The BARC Scientific Officer Recruitment 2026 selection process will be completed in two stages. In the first stage, candidates will be screened based on an online examination or GATE score. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for a personal interview. The final selection will be based on performance in the interview and medical fitness.

Details of OCES and DGFS Schemes
OCES, or Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates, is a one-year training program. Under this program, selected candidates are prepared for scientific work at BARC and other DAE units. After completing the training, candidates are appointed to various atomic energy institutions.

DGFS, or DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme, is a two-year program under which candidates pursue M.Tech degrees from selected institutions. During this period, their entire tuition fee is covered by the Department of Atomic Energy, and they also receive a monthly fellowship. After completing their M.Tech, candidates are appointed as Scientific Officers in DAE units.
