1,158 Assistant Professor Vacancies
The Punjab government has announced that new recruitment will begin for 1,158 Assistant Professor positions in government colleges across the state. This includes 67 Assistant Professor positions, as well as 67 Librarian positions. Both positions will be filled in accordance with the UGC Regulations 2018. The recruitment advertisement will be released by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) on the official website, ppsc.gov.in. The online application process will begin after the detailed notification is released.

The government has decided to withdraw the request for 612 previously pending recruitment posts with the Punjab Public Service Commission, as all the posts will now be submitted together. This means that a new recruitment process will begin for over 1,100 posts. Another good update regarding this new recruitment is that candidates will receive a relaxation in the upper age limit. Candidates who applied for the 2021 recruitment will receive this additional relaxation.

What are the qualifications required for an Assistant Professor?
This recruitment will be conducted under UGC regulations. Applicants must have a master's degree in a relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks. Additionally, candidates must have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR. Students with PhDs in the relevant subject will also be eligible to apply.

How will the selection process be conducted?
No written examination is conducted for the selection of Assistant Professors. The Commission shortlists all applications received based on their qualifications and invites them for an interview. A selection committee is formed for this purpose, which transparently conducts the entire process.

Shortlisting criteria include graduation, post-graduation, and MPF/M.Tech/LLM/M.Ed., PhD, NET/NET with JRF/research publications, teaching experience, awards, etc. Based on this, selected candidates are allowed to participate in the interview process. The information provided here regarding eligibility and selection is based on UGC regulations. However, all details will be provided in the detailed notification for the Assistant Professor. The details given in the advertisement will be considered final.
