Assistant Agriculture Officer Recruitment: The Odisha Public Service Commission has issued a notification for the recruitment of 118 Assistant Agriculture Officer positions, of which 40 are reserved for women.

Good news has arrived for young people preparing for government jobs in Odisha. The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released the official notification for the Assistant Agriculture Officer (AAO) Recruitment 2026. This notification was issued on December 31, 2025. This recruitment will fill a total of 118 Group B positions in the state's Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department. Significantly, 40 of these positions are reserved for women, providing a significant opportunity for female candidates.

According to information provided by the Commission, interested and eligible candidates will be able to apply online starting January 10, 2026. The deadline for applications is January 30, 2026. Candidates can complete the application process by visiting the official OPSC website. The position of Assistant Agricultural Officer is unique for young people who have studied agriculture or horticulture and wish to work with farmers in government service. Officers selected for this position provide farmers with information about new technologies, crop improvement, and government schemes. Who Can Apply?

Candidates applying for the AAO position must possess a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture (B.Sc. Agriculture) or a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture (B.Sc. Horticulture) from a recognized university or institute. The Commission has clarified that no other degree will be considered valid for this position. This means that only candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Horticulture can apply.

Furthermore, knowledge of the Odia language is required. Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak Odia. The notification lists four criteria related to the Odia language, one of which must be met. Candidates must also be an Indian citizen.

Application Fee

The application fee for the Assistant Agriculture Officer Recruitment 2026 has also been fixed. Candidates from the General, OBC, and SEBC categories will have to pay an application fee of ₹700. However, the Commission has provided relief by stating that this fee will be refunded to candidates who appear for both papers of the written examination.

Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and differently-abled candidates are fully exempt from the application fee. No fee will be charged from these categories, but the refund will not apply to them.

Salary: Salary is the biggest attraction in government jobs, and candidates selected for this position will receive a good salary. Selected candidates will be appointed under the Odisha Revised Pay Scale Rules 2017. The position of Assistant Agriculture Officer falls under Level-10, Cell-1.

The starting basic salary for this position is approximately ₹44,900 per month. This salary is based on the previous pay scale of ₹9,300 to ₹34,800, with a grade pay of ₹4,600. In addition, dearness allowance and other allowances provided by the state government from time to time will also be included in the salary. This could result in a higher total monthly income.
