AI Jobs: India is going to see a flood of jobs in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector in the coming years. According to a recent report, by the year 2027, more than 23 lakh positions will be filled in the AI sector in India. This is not only a huge economic potential for the country, but will also bring new employment opportunities. This report by Bain & Company states that the AI talent pool in India is expected to grow to 12 lakhs, giving more than 10 lakh employees a chance to reskill.

The report also mentions that the lack of AI talent in India remains a major challenge. Bain & Company partner Saikat Banerjee said, "India has a unique opportunity to become a global AI talent hub, but by 2027, job opportunities maybe 1.5-2 times more than the available talent." This means that it is extremely important to retrain existing employees and enhance their skills to meet the growing demand.

Status of AI jobs globally

Globally, AI-related job postings have grown by 21 percent every year since 2019, while salaries have seen an annual increase of 11 percent. However, there has been no significant increase in the number of qualified candidates. This is increasing the shortage of AI talent worldwide, which is affecting the pace of AI adoption. This situation is also a matter of concern for India, as local preparation is necessary to meet global demand.

Huge shortage of AI talent in the US and Europe

According to the report, one in every two AI jobs in the US may remain vacant by 2027. There will be a demand for more than 13 lakh jobs there in the next two years, but the supply is likely to be limited to only 6,45,000. This means that 7,00,000 employees will need retraining. At the same time, the situation is more serious in Germany, where 70 percent of AI jobs may remain vacant by 2027. In Germany, only 62,000 professionals will be available for 1,90,000-2,19,000 jobs.

Challenges in Britain and Australia too

In Britain, only 1,05,000 workers will be available for 2,55,000 AI jobs by 2027, while in Australia, only 84,000 experts will be available against 1,46,000 jobs. Both countries are expected to have a shortage of more than 60,000 AI professionals. This further deepens the AI talent crisis at the global level.

Golden opportunity for India

This is a golden opportunity for India to establish itself as a global hub of AI talent. For this, it is necessary to retrain the existing workforce and prepare new talents. If India takes the right steps in this direction, it will not only be able to meet its demand but will also be able to contribute at the global level.
