Notably, the proposed exam pattern does not include a separate section for General Knowledge (GK) and General Studies (GS). Given this, candidates should thoroughly understand the new recruitment rules, eligibility criteria, and syllabus before applying.

RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026: Recruitment for 1,265 Vacancies
The application process for the Railway Station Master recruitment commences today, October 27, 2026. Interested graduates may submit their applications until November 25, 2026. For detailed information regarding the application process and the recruitment itself, candidates can visit the official RRB website or the RRB application portal.

Initially, approximately 1,250 vacancies were announced, but this number has now increased to 1,265—an addition of 15 posts. The vacancies are distributed across various Railway Recruitment Boards; therefore, candidates should check the official notification to view the vacancy breakdown for their respective regions.

Highest Number of Vacancies in Mumbai; 112 Vacancies for Prayagraj
Regarding the distribution of vacancies, Mumbai has the highest number, with 125 posts. This is followed by Srinagar with 122, Chennai with 119, and Thiruvananthapuram with 114 posts. Prayagraj has been allocated 112 vacancies, comprising 104 posts under the North Central Railway and 8 posts under the Northern Railway. Meanwhile, 102 vacancies have been announced for the Bengaluru region.

Candidates are advised to check the available vacancies and relevant rules for their preferred Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) before submitting an application.

Minimum Age Limit Increased for Station Master Recruitment
Changes to the age limit for this recruitment have also been announced. The minimum age required to apply for the post of Station Master has been raised from 18 to 20 years, while the maximum age limit remains 30 years.

This change will directly affect candidates planning to apply based on their age. Therefore, applicants should carefully review the reference date for age calculation as specified in the notification, as well as the terms regarding age relaxations for reserved categories.

Station Master Vacancies Now Separate from NTPC Recruitment
Previously, recruitment for Railway Station Master posts was conducted under the NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) Graduate-level recruitment process. However, it has been announced that for this cycle, the Station Master post will be separated from the NTPC recruitment and handled as an independent recruitment process.

Following this change, candidates must apply based on the separate notification issued specifically for the Station Master post. It is essential to consult the official notification to understand the eligibility criteria, selection process, and examination rules.

GK/GS Removed from Exam Pattern; Single CBT Planned
Changes to the examination pattern for the 2026 Station Master recruitment have also been reported. Instead of a two-round written examination, the plan is to conduct a single Computer-Based Test (CBT). The exam will carry 100 marks, with a duration of 2 hours.

Notably, the proposed exam pattern does not include a separate section for General Knowledge (GK) and General Studies (GS). Instead, the focus will be on subjects such as Mathematics, Basic Science, Data Analysis, and Reasoning. Nevertheless, candidates should verify the syllabus provided in the official notification before adjusting their preparation strategy.
