Candidates preparing to become assistant professors in the field of medical education in Bihar have faced a setback. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled the recruitment process for 1,711 assistant professor (specialty) positions in medical colleges and hospitals under the Health Department. The Commission has announced the withdrawal of all related advertisements, issued under advertisement numbers 04/2025 through 28/2025.

**Department withdraws requisition**
A notice issued by the Commission states that the Health Department has withdrawn the requisition sent for this recruitment. Consequently, it has been decided to cancel all previously issued advertisements. However, the Commission has clarified that the process to issue fresh advertisements—following the receipt of a revised requisition—is currently underway.

**Appointments were planned across various departments**
This recruitment drive was intended to fill positions across various medical specialties in several medical colleges and hospitals in Bihar. These included departments such as Anesthesia, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Microbiology, Pediatrics, Biochemistry, Pathology, Radiology, and Anatomy, among others. The initial advertisements required candidates to hold a postgraduate medical degree (such as an MD or MS) in the relevant specialty, along with specified experience and other necessary qualifications.

**Candidates must await a new advertisement**
Following the cancellation of the recruitment process, candidates must now wait for a new advertisement to be issued based on the revised requisition. The new advertisement will provide details regarding the number of posts, vacancies by specialty, eligibility criteria, and terms and conditions for application. At present, the BPSC has not announced a specific date for the release of the new advertisement.
