Every year thousands of youth dream of becoming a part of the Air Force, but many people do not know that there are many ways to get recruited in this force. Entry is possible at every level, from 12th to graduation and diploma.

If you also want to fly in the sky and wearing a uniform is your dream, then know which are the exams and entry schemes, through which you can become a part of the Indian Air Force.

Opportunity to become an officer in the Air Force after 12th (NDA)

The NDA exam is conducted twice a year by UPSC. Boys who have passed 12th (Physics + Maths) can participate in it. After selection, candidates get training in NDA Pune and then are sent to the Air Force Academy. After passing out from here, they become officers in the flying branch or technical/non-technical branch.

Direct entry of officers after graduation (Combined Defence Services)

The CDS exam is also conducted by UPSC and graduate candidates can get admission to the Air Force Academy (AFA, Hyderabad) through it. This exam is held twice a year and successful candidates are given training as flying officers.

Air Force Common Entrance Test (AFCAT)

The Air Force Common Entrance Test is a common entrance test conducted by the Indian Air Force, through which recruitment is done in flying, and ground duty (technical and non-technical) branches. It is open to both men and women and graduates can apply in it. This exam is held twice every year and is considered the most accessible method.

Airman Recruitment after 12th or Diploma (Group X and Y)

The Indian Air Force conducts recruitment in Group X and Group Y trades every year. Group X includes technical trades like mechanical, electrical, electronics, etc. Group Y includes non-technical posts like clerk, medical assistant, and other support staff. If you have done 12th (science stream) or technical diploma, then you can apply for the post of Airman in the Indian Air Force.

Direct interview without written exam (NCC Special Entry)

If you have obtained 'C' certificate from NCC Air Wing, then you can apply for the flying branch in the Air Force without taking any written exam. Under this entry scheme, there is no need to take exams like AFCAT or CDS. It only has an SSB interview and this path is considered best for people with more competition.

Agniveer Vayu
Under the government's new scheme 'Agneepath', recruitment of Agniveer Vayu has also started in the Air Force. Youth between 17.5 and 21 years old can apply for this and after four years of service, a certain percentage of them get permanent appointments. This scheme gives a new opportunity to the youth to join the army.
