Indian Army, Agniveer Vayu Vacancy 2026: The Indian Air Force has made a significant decision regarding the Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2026. The maximum age limit has been raised from 21 to 22 years. Previously, only those between 17.5 and 21 years of age were eligible to apply. Under the new system, those born between January 1, 2005, and July 1, 2009 (both dates inclusive) will now be eligible to apply. This decision will also provide opportunities to thousands of young people who were previously excluded due to being overage.
Application Window Reopens
The Air Force has also announced the reopening of the application process. The previous deadline for applications was February 8, 2026. Interested and eligible youth will now be able to apply online from March 3, 2026, to March 10, 2026, on the official website: iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in/agniveervayu. A report published in Amar Ujala, citing sources within the Ministry of Defense, stated that this decision will provide more youth with the opportunity to join the scheme.
What is the educational qualification?
For Science stream: A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and English is required. 50% marks in English are also mandatory. Engineering diploma holders from a recognized institution are also eligible.
For other streams: Passing the 12th standard examination from any recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 50% marks in English is required.
What is the application fee?
The application fee for all categories is ₹550 + 18% GST. Payment must be made online only via credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI.
What is the selection process?
Recruitment will be completed in three stages. Step 1: A computer-based online exam. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Step 2: Physical Efficiency Test:
Male candidates will be required to complete a 1.6 km run in 7 minutes.
Female candidates will be required to complete a 1.6 km run in 8 minutes.
In addition, there will be push-ups, sit-ups, and squats.
Step 3: Medical examination as per Air Force standards.
Selected Agniveers will receive a salary of 30,000 to 40,000 rupees during their four-year service. The salary will be 30,000 rupees per month in the first year, which will increase to 40,000 rupees per month by the fourth year. Upon completion of service, a 'Seva Nidhi' package of approximately 10.04 lakh rupees will be provided. Based on performance, 25% of Agniveers will be considered for permanent cadre inclusion. This decision is a major relief for young people who were previously excluded due to age restrictions.
