This year, applications are also invited under the Short Service Commission (SSC) and Special Entry Scheme for the Flying Branch. Opportunities are available in all branches: Flying, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical). Additionally, 10% of the seats for the Flying Branch have been reserved for CDS, and 10% of the seats for the Flying Branch under the NCC Special Entry from AFCAT vacancies. Applications will be accepted until December 14, 2025.
AFCAT 2026 Applications Open
The Indian Air Force has begun the online registration process for AFCAT 2026 on November 17, 2025. Candidates aspiring to become flying officers can apply at afcat.edcil.co.in. Selected flying cadets will receive a stipend of ₹56,100 during their one-year training. Upon completion, the officer's salary ranges from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500.
Training
Candidates who pass the AFCAT 2026 exam will begin training at the Dundigal Air Force Academy in Hyderabad in the last week of December 2026 or the first week of January 2027.
What is the selection process?
The selection process begins with a written examination. Following this, candidates will undergo a two-stage test at the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB).
