Eligibility for becoming a religious teacher in the army
Pandit- To be admitted to the post of Pandit, candidates must have a graduation degree from a recognized university. Also, the candidate should be a Hindu and should have an Acharya in Sanskrit. OR Should have done a one-year Diploma in Kamkand with Acharya in Sanskrit.
Maulvi- To become a Maulvi in the army, one must have completed graduation. Candidates should have Maulvi in Arabic or Alim Adab in Urdu.
Chaplain- Candidates must be graduates to be admitted to the post of chaplain in the Indian Army. Also must have obtained Priesthood from the concerned authority and must be listed in the valid list of bishops.
Granthi – Must be a graduate in a subject related to Sikhism. Along with this, knowledge of Punjabi is also necessary.
Buddhist Monk – To become a teacher of Buddhism (Mahayana), candidates must be a graduate. Also, should be recognized as Monk/Buddhist Priest by the concerned authority.
Age limit to become a religious teacher in the army
To become a religious teacher in the Indian Army, the age of candidates should be between 25 to 34 years.
Physical fitness to become a religious teacher in the army
The height of the candidates should be 160 cm. However, the height of the candidates belonging to Gorkha, Ladakhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep should be 155 cm.
Candidates' chest should be 77 cm and their weight should be at least 50 kg. The weight of Gorkha candidates should be at least 48 kg.
Candidates will have to run 1600 meters in 8 minutes. Candidates will be given additional time of 30 seconds to 120 seconds in hilly areas.

The selection process for the post of religious teacher in the army
To become a religious teacher in the army, one has to go through three types of tests. One is a written test and the other is a screening. There will be two papers in the written examination- Paper-1 i.e. General Awareness. It will be common for all. Paper 2 will be related to the concerned religion. Both papers will be 100-100 marks. There is also negative marking in the exam.
There will be an interview after passing the written test. The interview will also be of 100 marks. In which at least 50 marks have to be brought to pass.
