300 doctors will be recruited in the Health Department of Uttarakhand soon. At the same time, 56 bond-holding doctors who were absent for a long time have been dismissed.

The state government, which is engaged in creating a better health system in Uttarakhand, will soon recruit 300 more doctors, while the services of 56 bond-holding doctors who were absent for a long time have been terminated. State Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said in a statement that recently, doctors have been recruited for 220 posts of medical officers in the Provincial Medical and Health Services cadre under the Health Department, who have also been deployed at remote health centers of the state. He said that apart from this, about 300 posts of doctors are lying vacant in the department, for which the officers have been instructed to send a formal request to the Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board for early recruitment so that the recruitment process can be completed on time and new doctors can be made available to the department.
The state education minister said that the government is engaged in creating a better health system in the state. He said that under this, the government is deploying doctors in health units of remote areas from infrastructure so that better treatment can be ensured to the common people in nearby hospitals. He said that apart from this, the government is also not averse to showing the way out to such personnel who are careless towards their responsibilities.
56 doctors were dismissed
Rawat said that in this sequence, the government had instructed the officials to take action against 234 absent bond-holding doctors who passed out from government medical colleges last month along with recovery. He said that 178 doctors who were missing returned to work in the health department after the notice. He said that 56 doctors also ignored the last warning, after which all of them were dismissed. He said that the Director of Medical Education has been instructed to recover the amount from all those absent doctors as per the terms of the bond.
What happens if the terms of the contract are not followed?
In the state's government medical colleges, students are taught MBBS at a minimum fee under a bond. Under this, after completing MBBS, these students are required to serve for five years in medical units of the hill districts of the state. In case of not doing so, these doctors have to deposit the amount prescribed in the bond and get a no objection certificate from the department and only then their educational certificates are returned. There is a provision to recover the amount prescribed in the bond from the doctors if they do not follow the terms of the contract. (Input With PTI)
