What does Google mean?

When Larry Page and Sergey Brin created Google, they named it BackRub. It was later changed to Google. But there's a story behind it. The name is actually derived from the word "Googol," which means the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. According to a News18 report, the word was first used in 1920 by Milton Sirota, the 9-year-old nephew of American mathematician Edward Krasner. The child thought such a large number deserved a fun name.

When Larry Page and his team were thinking of a name for their search engine, someone suggested "Googol." Larry checked the domain, but accidentally wrote "Google." He liked the name, and it was finalized. This means that one of the world's largest search engines was named simply because of a typo.
