For the first time in the 143-year long history of Railway Protection Force (RPF), a woman officer has taken command of it. 1993 batch senior IPS officer Sonali Mishra has been appointed as the Director General of RPF. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet of the Government of India had approved her name and now she has officially taken charge.

Sonali Mishra is a senior IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. She has been entrusted with the responsibility of DG of Railway Protection Force till 31 October 2026. As soon as she took charge, a new history has been created in RPF, as this is the first time a woman has been appointed to this top post.

More than three decades of experience

Sonali Mishra has more than 30 years of experience in police service. Before taking charge of RPF, she has held important positions like Police Training and Research Institute in Madhya Pradesh, ADG in Bhopal and Director of MP Police Academy. Apart from this, she has also worked on international platforms like CBI, BSF and United Nations Kosovo Peace Mission.

Has received Presidential and Police Medal

Her service has been honored at the national level many times. She has been awarded the Presidential Police Medal and Police Medal. These awards recognize her dedication and impeccable service.
