When did the spiritual journey begin?

Sadhguru explains in his book Inner Engineering, “One afternoon I had nothing to do and had recently had a heartbreak, so I went to Chamundi Hill. I parked my bike at one point and after climbing about two-thirds of the way up the hill, I sat on a rock. That was my meditation rock. As far as I had been experiencing up to that moment, my body and mind were “me” and the rest of the world was “outside”. But suddenly I was not aware of what was me and what was not. My eyes were still open. But the air I was breathing, the rock I was sitting on, all had become me. All that was there was me. I was conscious and yet not conscious. I had lost the ability of the senses to differentiate between things.”

"The more I say about this, the more crazy it will sound because what was happening was indescribable. My “me” was everywhere. Everything was expanding beyond its set limits; Everything was expanding and merging into everything else. It was a dimensionless unity of totality. That moment is my life now, beautifully sustained. When I came to, it seemed like only ten minutes had passed. But the hands of my watch showed that it was 7:30 in the evening, that is, four and a half hours had passed. My eyes were open, the sun had set and it was dark. I was fully alert, but by that moment, what I considered my 'self' had completely disappeared. I am not a weepy person. And yet, at the age of twenty-five on that rock of Chamundi Hill, I was so ecstatic that my tears were flowing and my shirt was wet."
