You can say no to science in school; CBSE may introduce a two-level plan like math.
CBSE New Rule: CBSE is about to introduce a new rule for Class 10 students. Like math, science will now be taught in two levels: basic and advanced. This new CBSE rule aims to make science easier for students.
CBSE New Rule: Two-Level System for Science: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is constantly making changes, both small and large, based on students' interests and abilities. In this regard, CBSE is introducing a new rule. Now, like math, science will also have two levels in Class 10. Just as math has been standardized for basic and advanced, science will also be divided into two levels.
This CBSE rule will be applicable for Class 9 from 2026-27. It will be implemented for the 10th and 12th board exams from 2028. Currently, Maths in Class 10th is offered in two levels: Basic and Standard.
CBSE New Rule: What is the purpose?
The purpose of this new rule is to give students the opportunity to choose subjects based on their interests. The Basic level will be for students who do not wish to study science as a subject. CBSE's primary objective behind introducing this rule is to reduce pressure on students.
CBSE Science Basic vs. Advanced: What will be the difference between the two levels?
The Basic level of Science will be for students who do not wish to take science as a subject. It will explain the basics of science, allowing students to gain knowledge and avoid the burden of studying science. This level will focus on the application of science in daily life. All students are required to take the Basic level Science exam.
The Advanced level of Science will be designed for students who wish to pursue engineering, medical, and other similar courses. This level will not be mandatory for everyone. But the students who choose it will have to pass with good marks.
