Yogi Government Gifts Students: Internship Stipend for Veterinary Students in UP Tripled..
The Yogi Adityanath government has bestowed a significant boon upon students pursuing veterinary science studies in the state. A major decision regarding this matter was taken during a cabinet meeting held in Lucknow on Monday, presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under this decision, the Yogi government has tripled the internship allowance—or stipend—for veterinary students currently studying within the state. Following this decision, veterinary students in the state will now receive a monthly stipend of ₹12,000, up from the previous ₹4,000 per month.
It is believed that this decision by the Yogi government will provide substantial financial support to the state's veterinary students and will also serve to boost their morale. Let us understand this entire matter in detail.
**What Did the Minister for Dairy Development Say?**
Commenting on this decision, UP's Minister for Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry, Dharampal Singh, stated that Uttar Pradesh is a state characterized by a vast population, a large livestock count, and an expansive geographical area. Livestock plays a pivotal role in the state's economy. Consequently, the role of veterinary doctors becomes extremely critical in safeguarding animal health, controlling and eradicating various animal epidemics, and promoting advanced livestock breeds.
He further informed that, in accordance with the Cabinet's decision, veterinary students enrolled at the Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Veterinary Science University and Gaushala Research Institute, the Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology will now receive the enhanced internship allowance.
**Over 300 Students to Benefit**
According to the UP government, these students were previously receiving an internship allowance of ₹4,000 per month; this amount has now been increased to ₹12,000 per month. This decision will benefit the 300 students approved across these three universities. The Animal Husbandry Minister noted that this decision was taken after studying the higher internship allowances provided in states such as Haryana, Karnataka, and Kerala.
He added that the implementation of this proposal would entail an additional financial burden of approximately ₹4.20 crore on the government. The necessary funds for this expenditure will be arranged through the "non-salary" component of the government grants allocated to the universities. This will boost student morale, foster greater interest in education and enthusiasm for work, and also strengthen the principle of equality. Minister Dharampal Singh has described this as a significant step in consonance with the principle of equality.
