Uttar Pradesh is experiencing severe cold weather and dense fog. In light of this, the state government has extended school holidays. Schools for students from nursery to class 8 will now remain closed until January 15th. Schools for classes 9 to 12 will remain closed until January 5th. Following this decision, all schools in the state, including those affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, and the UP Board, will be closed. Any school that fails to comply will face action for violating the rules.

Winter Vacation in Punjab until January 8th
Besides Uttar Pradesh, Punjab has also announced winter vacation for schools until January 8th. Considering the increasing cold, the state's Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, decided to extend the holidays from January 1st to January 8th.

Schools in Rajasthan to remain closed until this date.
Due to the cold wave, schools in Rajasthan will remain closed until January 5th. In Jaipur, the District Collector has announced holidays for Anganwadi centers from January 2nd to January 10th. Besides Rajasthan, in the Kashmir Valley, all pre-primary classes will be closed from November 26th to February 28th, 2026; all classes from 1st to 8th grade will be closed from December 1st to February 28th, 2026; and classes for grades 9 to 12 will begin on December 11th and end on February 22nd, 2026.
