Will the NEET exam become computer-based and be conducted in multiple phases like JEE? Read the parliamentary committee's recommendation.
A parliamentary committee has recommended conducting the NEET UG exam in multiple phases, similar to the JEE. Additionally, it has advised making the NEET exam a computer-based test.
Will the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) also be held in multiple phases and as a computer-based test like the JEE? A parliamentary committee has made this recommendation for the NEET exam because, currently, the test is conducted for approximately 20 lakh (2 million) students in a single day. The committee has now recommended shifting to a multi-phase, computer-based format for NEET.
What did the parliamentary panel propose?
The parliamentary committee has also recommended conducting separate entrance exams for MBBS, AYUSH, and nursing courses. This would reduce the number of candidates taking a single exam. According to sources, the NTA stated that since admissions to various courses are determined based on NEET scores, conducting separate exams would not be practical.
Efforts to bring transparency to the NEET exam intensify
According to the NTA, the Ministry of Health will make the final decision regarding the proposals put forward by the parliamentary committee. Currently, the NTA is focused on implementing the Radhakrishnan Committee's recommendations in a phased manner to ensure transparency and conduct an error-free exam.
