Uttarakhand Private School Fees: Private schools in Uttarakhand will no longer be able to charge arbitrary fees from parents. The state government has taken a firm stance in this regard and has formed a committee. The state government made this known to the Uttarakhand High Court during a hearing. The state government stated that parents can file their complaints with the committee.

The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by Haldwani resident Deepchandra Pandey, alleging that several private schools in Uttarakhand are charging excessive fees from students. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) informed the court that it has not yet received any such complaint from any student or parent.

The Chief Education Officer of Nainital, appearing in court via video conferencing, stated that the state government has formed a committee to investigate issues related to fees, uniforms, uniforms, and uniforms, as well as private schools forcing students to purchase books from a single store.

After hearing both sides, a division bench of Justices Ravindra Maithani and Alok Mehra directed the petitioner to first present his complaint before the advisory committee and disposed of the case.

What was in the petition?
The petitioner had argued that school managements force students to purchase notebooks, books, and uniforms from specific stores, which typically cost more than normal market rates. However, school managements argued that all books and other materials are made available at one place so that parents don't have to visit different stores and classes can start on time.
