UPTET 2026 Registration: Applications Open; Live Selfie Required While Filling Out the Form..
UPTET 2026 Registration: There is major news for the lakhs of aspirants in Uttar Pradesh dreaming of becoming teachers. The online application process for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 has commenced today, Friday, March 27, 2026. As this examination is being conducted after a gap of nearly five years, several new rules and stricter measures have been introduced to prevent any form of malpractice.
Important Dates for Application
The deadline for applying to UPTET 2026 has been set for April 26, 2026. Candidates may complete their registration, submit their applications, and pay the requisite fees up until this date. The final date for making corrections to applications and resolving fee-related issues is May 1, 2026. The examination itself is scheduled to be conducted between July 2 and July 4, 2026.
Where to Apply?
Candidates may apply exclusively through the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (www.upessc.up.gov.in). Applications submitted through any other medium will not be accepted.
New Rules Implemented This Time
To enhance transparency in the examination process, several new rules have been implemented this time around. A particularly significant change is that candidates are now required to declare, at the time of application, whether or not they have a twin brother or sister. If they do, they must provide full details regarding their twin, including their name, gender, identity proof, and whether or not the twin is also appearing for the same examination.
Furthermore, it has been made mandatory for all candidates to upload a "live photo" (a photograph taken in real-time) during the application process. This measure aims to minimize the possibility of fraudulent photographs being used or of a proxy candidate appearing for the examination on behalf of another person.
Live Photo and QR Code Facility
To upload a live photo, candidates can simply take a selfie directly using their mobile phone or laptop camera. Additionally, a facility has been provided to upload photos with the assistance of a QR code. Candidates can easily upload their live photo by scanning the QR code displayed on the screen using their mobile device.
Changes in Reservation and Passing Marks
For the first time, candidates belonging to the EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) category will also be eligible to avail the benefits of reservation in this examination. To qualify, candidates belonging to the General category must secure a minimum of 60%, i.e., 90 marks out of 150. Meanwhile, for the OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories, the minimum qualifying threshold has been set at 55%, i.e., 82 marks.
Documents Required for Application
While applying for UPTET 2026, candidates must keep certain essential documents ready. These include an Aadhaar Card, Class 10th and 12th mark sheets, Graduation mark sheet, Training Certificate, Caste Certificate (if applicable), a photograph, a signature, and an Identity Card.
