UPSSSC PET Exam Date 2026: The wait is over for lakhs of youths in Uttar Pradesh preparing for Group-C government jobs. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has released the dates for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (UPSSSC PET 2026) on its official website, upsssc.gov.in.

According to the notice issued by the Commission, the PET will be conducted this year on October 23, 24, and 25, 2026, at various centers across the state. The application process for this exam concluded on September 7. Candidates who have submitted their forms should now focus on their final exam preparations.

In how many shifts will the exam be held, and when will the admit card be released?

Given the large number of candidates, the Commission will conduct the exam in multiple shifts over three days. The Commission will release the exam city slips and admit cards a few days prior to the examination.

Candidates will be able to download their admit cards by logging into the portal using their registration number and date of birth. The admit card will contain details such as the roll number, exam center, shift timing, and reporting time.

Why is PET mandatory for Group-C jobs in UP?

Passing the PET is the primary prerequisite for appearing in major recruitment drives for posts such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, and VDO (Village Development Officer) in Uttar Pradesh.

Simply put, if you have not taken the PET, you cannot apply for the Main examination (Mains) of any Group-C recruitment conducted by the state government. The Commission shortlists candidates based solely on their PET scorecards. Therefore, merely passing is not enough; securing the highest possible marks is crucial to clearing the cut-off for subsequent recruitment stages.
