UP TET will now be held on February 26 and 27, 2027… UPESSC will now conduct the TET twice a year..
UP TET Exam Date: There is a major update for candidates preparing for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET). The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has completed its preparations to conduct the UP TET. In this regard, the next UP TET examination will be held on February 26 and 27, 2027. The UPESSC provided this information to the Allahabad High Court during a hearing on a petition filed by 'Shiksha Mitras' (para-teachers).
Let us examine the details of the situation, the preparations made by the UPESSC for the UP TET, when the exam was last conducted, and the decisions taken regarding the UP TET in the context of 'Shiksha Mitras'.
Plans to conduct UP TET twice a year
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) is working on a plan to conduct the UP TET twice a year—specifically in July and January of each academic year. Following the examination scheduled for February 26 and 27, 2027, the next UP TET will be held in July 2027, followed by another session in December-January. This information was shared by the UPESSC with the Allahabad High Court. In essence, the UPESSC intends to conduct the UP TET twice a year, along the lines of the CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test).
The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued guidelines recommending that the TET be conducted twice a year. In compliance with these guidelines, the UPESSC is working on implementing this schedule. Notably, since 2011, the TET has never been conducted twice in a single year in Uttar Pradesh.
TGT Recruitment: Candidates Given Until June 30
The application process for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) posts in Uttar Pradesh is currently underway. For the 2026 TGT recruitment, the UPESSC has provided a conditional relaxation for candidates who have not yet cleared the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test). Under this provision, such candidates are permitted to apply for the 2026 TGT recruitment and appear for the recruitment examination; however, it is mandatory for all these candidates to pass the TET by June 30, 2027. In this context, the UP TET 2027, proposed for February, becomes significant for these candidates.
Six Opportunities for 'Shiksha Mitras' to Clear TET
The Allahabad High Court has directed the UPESSC to provide 'Shiksha Mitras' (para-teachers) with six opportunities to pass the TET. These six opportunities are to be provided by August 31, 2026. Specifically, 'Shiksha Mitras' will be granted six chances to appear for the TET across the years 2026, 2027, and 2028.
